Slightly more than 20 years ago I placed an ad for our first receptionist. There was one who stood out from the other applicants, by sheer tenacity alone! She had two different managers from her current job call me personally to recommend her for the post – something I’d not seen before, or since. That woman was Betty.
Betty recently completed her 20th year of service with Pyramid. She was our first hire in Williamsburg. In that 20 years, she’s seen us grow from a single shop and a moderately compact service area to four locations and a service area that’s grown right along with it.
There are so many stories. She has endured many weeks and months of intense pressure during post-storm recovery of numerous hurricanes, nor’easters, and winter storms. Do you remember the Ice Storm in December of ’98? And who could forget Isabel? Talk about tension and stress. Betty stayed strong. But the loyalty to Pyramid and our team is what makes Betty stand out today. She’s always got our back and is ready to cover for a co-worker in the office if needed. Betty practically runs this roofing company on her own. She makes my job so much easier.
Betty has been with us long enough that clients call just to talk to her! (And she’s always got a moment for a client!) She’s heard their stories, talked them through roofing emergencies and even had some good laughs.
In many ways, Betty is the heart of our office. We’ve shared great times, and she is one of the reasons Pyramid Roofing is what it is today. I’m so grateful she answered that ad 20 years ago.
Thanks for a great 20 years Betty! And while I won’t say “Here’s to 20 more,” please don’t retire anytime soon.Dan
